in reply to: Low Dose Naltrexone #1178595
I hear you, Shirley. I am actually struggling with whether or not to have my kids get the gardasil vaccine. So many conflicting things to read….just like GD.
in reply to: Low Dose Naltrexone #1178590Shirley, I’m not advocating this drug in any way. I had just stumbled across it while doing research for GD. I’d be nervous about it too, but the dose they refer to on the drugs.com site is for the higher (50 mg) dose for addicts. The Low Dose is only UP TO 5 mg.
The National MS society has info on it in uses for MS – improving quality of life for some MS sufferers – on their website.
in reply to: Intra-ocular eye pressure…from Graves? #1178579I was at an ophthalmologist today and he says normal is 10-21, but with 26 yours still seems high. Good luck.
in reply to: Low Dose Naltrexone #1178587I have read about it and have read a few other thyroid message boards that have a few people taking it for Hashi or Graves. Have not found anyone that has gone into remission with it. I did some reading up on it, and heard good things in regards to MS and Crohn’s I think, but don’t know much about it otherwise. There is a Yahoo group for it, but not specific to GD.
in reply to: Can symptoms lag behind changes? #1178569Wow. I think a lot of my symptoms were actually side effects of the Atenolol. Go figure.
in reply to: Can symptoms lag behind changes? #1178568She said it could be my body adjusting to the new levels and I could continue the beta blocker or discontinue as I feel ok.
in reply to: Can symptoms lag behind changes? #1178566Good news!
3 weeks and 5 days on Methimazole and….
My Free T4 went from 4.9 to 2.5 (upper range is 1.
My Total T3 went from 327 to 196 (upper range is 181).
Liver panel was still normal.(I’m a little confused as she stated the T3 free was not as reliable as Total T3, but I thought I read just the opposite somewhere. Maybe I’m just confused)
So, it’s good news. She’s keeping me on the same dose for two more weeks and then we’ll retest again and possibly reduce if I am in normal ranges.
It seems I have been blessed to find a pretty good endo and I’m hopeful for the first time since this rollercoaster started.
We didn’t get my TRAb levels back yet, so that will be another puzzle piece to add.
in reply to: Questions anout Graves disease #1178555Thanks, as always, Kimberly!
in reply to: Questions anout Graves disease #1178553Do you have any statistics on graves happening in teenagers/children?
in reply to: Well, here goes! #1173607Hang in there, Rob. You are efinitely riding a rrollercoaster.
One day at a time. This is enough.
in reply to: heat intolerance? #1178480Thanks, Rob. I guess I know what heat intolerance is by definition. And I guess I have times where I feel hot, but this past week Igave definitely been cold. I don’t wanna get my hopes up though because I know it can be a rollercoaster.
I’m WAY past the child bearing stage….five is definitely enough for me! Thankfully, that is one situation I don’t have to worry about.
I’ve read similar info…that’s why I will opt or surgery over RAI if it comes to that.
in reply to: Help with lab abbreviations please #1178427Mine was high, but not that high. I’m going to ask my endo on Monday as I have another set of labs to do.
Thanks for the replies.
in reply to: Help with lab abbreviations please #1178425Thanks. That’s what I thought. She didn’t run the TRAb….we even have it in our notes that she said TRAb is what she follows.
