i’m telling you what, i’m so tired of dr.s not taking graves seriously, some days, i think i’m totally going to go nuts lately, i wish i could just walk into a hospital and demand tests..hehe..like they would give them to me…but my dr had started me on the steroid,for my optic nerve swelling, i only took one today, and afterwards, i thought i was going to run a marathon,it felt like i had 10 cups of coffee, had a severe rapid heartbeat, i already have heart problems, and chest pain..i had to take 2 muscle relaxers, and an atenolol to slow my heart down, needless to say, i fell into a deep sleep and feel much better now..my t3, t4 tests came back normal once again…as i was expecting..i go through paralysis spells, and am almost constantly lightheaded, my dr thinks i can wait until july24 to see the endo dr. my mom called him up today and demanded i get in sooner..moms to the rescue! I’ve read that only asian or native american men with graves can go through the paralysis spells, i do have native american in me, but i am not a man..
is it also possible to be a combo of both hyper and hypo? I have symptoms of both..i gain weight, but have the dirarhea almost every other day, and i dont’ have light menstrual periods, but rather flooding ones..sorry for the gross info.. i have the nervousness, and yet some days i’m so tired, i can’t get off the couch the entire day..and the whole fainting, and dizzy spells, and paralysis spells are enough to make me insane..is there a scan they can do on my thyroid to see if it’s enlarged? some days i feel like i have a golf ball in my throat, and i’m scared and wondering if they did do a scan, that it wouldn’t show up because it wasn’t doing anything at the moment, i have the unbelievable respect for everyone who suffers through this, and i wish everyone luck and salute you!!! :)god bless,

To:Merz Hey i can sure sympathize with your current problems,although I”am a man I know were you are coming from,I had the uptake scan and it showed that my graves were scattered like buckshot,so I setteled for the RAI which was back last April 99.Now I feel like you just described,it makes you wonder if the doctors and HMO’s try to make your life that uncomfortable.Iam now seeing a Optho will have a catscan this Monday afternoon,and will see yet another Endo on July 14 00 so heres to the 2am wakeups Boahunk
