Hi Steve,

Did they tell you they had given you enough to totally destroy the gland? I’m curious to know what dose they gave you. I had 10 millicuries. I thought the point of RAI was to try and destroy just enough of the gland but that most people go hypo because it’s too difficult to judge size and number of cells in the gland. I was told 25% go down the first year and 2% every year after that for 30 years. I have just reached the normal range 9 weeks after RAI and PTU. The next few weeks should tell the story for me.

I had RAI in August, 1995 and then again in February, 1996. I was told after the first dose that I had been given enough to “knock out the thyroid” completely. Obviously, it wasn’t enough–six months later I went hyper in a big way once again.

I was advised prior to both doses that RAI was the best option for me because the drugs took too long and their effects were too unpredicatable. (This was my endo’s opinion, in reference to my particular circumstances at the time of treatment). Hope this helps.

all they told me is that im getting the
blow out dose well didn’t blow out there ears

Hello,

has anyone had to go more than once for rai treatment and where
they told you that your given enough to blow it out the first time ?

did you go back for more, are did you go to drugs?
