steve, i have had three doses of rai and i don’;t know that my voice
has changed, however i get hoarse sometimes. not a lot of fun when you
are in the middle of a conversation and someone asked,”what’s wrong
with your voice?” i just say, oh i don’t know, think i’m falling apart.
why try to explain graves when they don’t know what you’re talking about?
just another one of those ‘cute’ symptoms we have to live with.good luck,
kitty

I don’t know about RAI, but quitting smoking may change your voice. I
quit last year (Jan. 96) until May because I had lost my normally pleasant
speaking voice. Within 3 weeks, the gravel sound was gone and my voice
was pleasant. I could even stand to hear myself sing, which I couldn’t
a few weeks earlier.Still quit here on Day Two. Hope you’re doing well also.

since then – I had to switch from singing 1st alto to 2nd.
Julie.AnonymousMarch 5, 1997 at 6:59 amPost count: 93172Hi, Steve. Ditto here. My endo picks up the phone and says, “You really sound hypothyroid!” Apparently, hypo causes your voice to lower, become gravelly or hoarse-sounding. So, I’m wondering who I sound like — the old Tallulah (spelling??) Bankhead probably, but that reference probably went waaay over your young head. : )
