        Greetings All,
As a result of a wonderful question/answer/discussion with my
Endo I have decided to for for RAI at 2:30 Wednesday. I have been on the
meds for over a year now and they are just not doing the trick. I am
just barely within “normal” parameters, very high normal, with very little hope of
remission. I am starting to get very nervous about the outcome.
Will it work? Will I gain even more weight (aauugghh!!!)? Will
it work as quickly as I am hoping? Will there be any side effects?
Will my confidence in this treatment be for nothing? I am sure I have
made the right decision, yet I am getting anxious. Oh, well, keep
        your fingers crossed……….

          Lesli

Guess by the time you read this, it has already been done. So I’ll cover our experience about after RAI. My wife had a single treatment of RAI back in Nov. 96. The only immediate aftereffects were a headache for about 2 days and a slight feeling of a lump in the throat. Both were gone on the third day. She started sleeping better immediately too. As for weight gain, well with her it was a loss before treatment( She was hyper)
After 3 months , her weight and blood levels are back to normal. And we both hope it stays there.
Overall symptoms of Graves went away about 3 weeks after RAI. She then went slightly Hypo about 2 months after and began the synthoid. So far all has gone well with no further adjustments of dosage needed. When asked if she would do it again, knowing what she knows now, the answer is a definite yes!
And welcome to the gang here at the Grave’s support group, they’re a terrific group of people.
