Could it really be that the ophalmologist knows or has the experience that the two autoimunnue diseases are connected? I think that Kristy might have found an eye doctor that’s a cut above the rest. Susan

    Hi Kristy,
Really do not feel like you are being ignored.
Most likely know one has the answer.

From what I know glucose testing at an opthalmologist
is uncommon. The test is basically used for elevated blood sugar levels or low blood sugar levels. Usually your optho would ask you
if you had been checked for Diabetes
or Hypogylcemia at a physical and leave it up to
your endo or GP. Was this your first visit
and maybe you indicated on your file that there is
a history of Diabetes in your family? Another thing,
maybe this is just a formality with your optho and he test all new patients for this?

Usually at all of the doctor’s offices that I see
if they are sending me for bloodwork, I review the
lab slip sheet with them there and if I am not
familiar with the test, I ask what the test is
for. Sometimes I ask how long it will take and
tell them I will be calling back to get the
    results.

    Hope this helped.
