Hi Vicki,
I had the total thyroidectomy in Aug of ’99. I have been back to work since two weeks after my surgery. It has been a slow process regulating my Synthroid but it has been less than a year and I feel great most of the time and when I don’t, I can attribute that to my schedule and work load.
I think you will be amazed at how well you can feel again. Just remember, have patience because it takes time for your body to heal and the doctor to get your hormones regulated. I don’t regret my decision for a minute.
If I can be of help further, please don’t hesitate to email me at: pestep01@msn.com.
Good luck and Good Health to you. I will be praying for you. Please get on line when you can so we can know that you are doing okay.

PTU meds used….been off it for over a year, feeling pretty good, then the growths on 3 lobes and a Goiter growing fast. Choking alot and breathing gets a lil hard at times. So Endo Dr. sent me to E.N.T. Surgent..Conventional throidectomy..all must go, may be able to leave a lobe! What do I have to look forward to. They say that they Don’t see any cancer. Thank God!
The day I come home from hospital, My Endo has me starting Synthroid 0.1 mg
After living years not knowing WHAT was Wrong with me, And feeling NOT NORMAL, Not sleeping more than 2 hrs. Hyper all the time,My Doctor even asked if I was using drug! {the ones that make you go fast} Telling my Dr. NO!, who needs them! Shakin and head racing, heart skipping, pounding, angry, on edge all the time. Being soooo tired but I just couldn’t seen to slow down or stop. Is LIEE going to be a roller coaster ride again? Toni from the BB wrote me , I thank God For that, the whole thing is so scary. And thankful for finding NGDF, not being alone any more. Thank you for listening……….VickiAnonymousJune 21, 2000 at 9:18 pmPost count: 93172Thank you Pam,

AnonymousJune 22, 2000 at 6:22 pmPost count: 93172Hi,
Yes, I did. I had double vision so bad at one point I couldn’t leave the house, even to walk my dog, without my daughter going so I could hang on to her. I couldn’t focus on the ground I was walking on. My eyes were red and burning alot but they never began to bulge and once I began treatment with the PTU and Inderal that subsided.I still have dry eyes but have had all my life so I use eye drops when I need to. My eyes are really sensitive to light and wind so I wear my dark sunglasses rain or shine. People make fun and call me Hollywood. They think I wear them to be cool but what do I care, I’m comfortable.
Take Care.
