Hi Rochelle, I was told years ago by several Endos I went to that thyroid is hereditary. My Aunt had exactly the same as me however she is the only one in my family. Also the first time I had RAI I was told not to go near young children for 24 hours, that was all. I was also told to keep a bag near me for several hours and if I was sick to make sure I got it all up. That bit of info, of course, made me feel sick all the way home – but all was OK. If you want info I’m sure you can phone the hospital where you are having it done and talk to the nurses. They were very friendly and helpful when I went. Take care. SAS
