Claude, before RAI treatment my goiter was so large there was constant
pressure on my windpipe and I couldnt button up shirts around the collar.
I considered surgery but as I was a Speech Pathology student at the time
decided it wasnt worth the potential risk to my voice (however small).
Luckily RAI has significantly reduced the size of my goiter – now only
just visible and no longer uncomfortable. Im not suggesting that RAI is
for everyone but not perhaps excluded on the basis of a sizeable goiter
