      Bobbi and Darlene,

You are both ANGELS!! Thanks for the information on RAI and pregnancy. I will surely have a pregnancy test done prior to the RAI and definitly watch my diet post RAI. You have made it so much easier for me to go in on Monday and take this treatment I have been putting off for 2-3 years now.

      Thanks, Moni

I was told by my physician and the nuc med tech that one of the reasons to stay away from pregnant women, babies and toddlers is that, in the case of pregnant women, the radioactivity excreted by your body could cause the fetus to be born with a totally nonfunctioning thyroid that would never function and the case of babies and toddlers, since theirs was so small and not fully developed, it could cause it to stop functioning. I would hate to think that I had caused someone else’s child to be born with a lifelong problem just because the NRC didn’t lock me up after a test. I had RAI and it is rough staying away from people for 4 to 7 days, but I considered the alternatives and decided I could live with loneliness more than I could live with deforming the internal organs of an unborn child or damaging those of a small child I had come in contact with. Just personal thoughts on that, but why do you think they give out these instructions, just to piss someone off? I think not.
