I had my thyroid uptake a couple weeks ago. I was told by nuclear medicine that is was only a test; such a minimal amount of iodine is given it does not effect the thyroid, only lights it up so they can take a picture. Has any research been done on this? shan
During the radioactive iodine uptake procedure, used to diagnose Graves’, does the radioactive iodine have any impact on the faulty thyroid gland, or is it purely diagnostic in nature?
