I would appreciate feedback about a possible connection with thyroid disease and restless legs syndrome. Has anyone else experienced both, or have any information?

    Hi Marla,
I experienced restless legs for about 3 months when i was first diagnosed
with GD. It drove me crazy!!!!
It seemed to pass after I had RAI and was put on medication.
It was extremely bad when first diagnosed and as I went thru
medication steps up to RAI it was fewer and far between attacks.

    Hi.
I am not sure if RLS is graves related or not but for me just making some simple adjustments in the diet have helped. For instance cutting back on caffeine, soft drinks, etc has helped. Also increasing my potassium levels by eating more potassium and iron enriched foods such as bananas, strawberries, spinach, etc. has helped too. If the pain is so severe I would mention this to my doctor and possibly be checked for anemia which can be done by a simple blood test. Also there is a great website to check out if you have not already. The address is: http://www.rls.org. I hope this helps.
    Peace and happiness,
    Dee
