    Going without medication is no problem when our thyroid levels are within the normal range. But once they are not (if, for example, the TSH shows a problem), then it is important to be under medical care. Both hyperthyroid and hypothyroid are DISEASE conditions for the body, and can potentially cause us long-range health problems. Please, find a new doctor, and take good care of yourself.

    I have had Graves for over two years now. I took medication at
    the beginning for apox. one year. I have taken nothing for the
    year as my doctor said it was not safe. The last test I had
    indicated my TSH was high. At that visit the doctor informed me
    he was retiring. Has anyone out there stopped taked medication
    and if so how long have you been off of it?
