The T4 vs T4+T3 study (NEJM)is a decent study. They specifically controlled for the placebo effect. The only arguable point is that they didn’t use GD patients in the study. However, we often suffer hypo symptoms like any other hypothyroid patient once we’re treated.
I agree with Jake’s doctor that the study was too short (5 week pre-test period, followed by a 5 week test period) and didn’t have enough participants (31 people.) Maybe it’ll inspire someone to do a bigger test, though.
Thank your comments. I will definitely keep the Pedi endo in the loop. I’m going to call him tommorrow and see what he thinks about the Homeopathic Dr. The Homeo was hoping to get her into remission. He wants the Endo to do the follow up with blood work to make sure things don’t get progess. I am as nervous about the drugs as I am about the homeopathic med. This homeopath is one of the top in the country and my kids and I have been seeing him for 12 years. We have had very dramatic results in the past so I trust him. I also feel great about the endo…he was very open about alternative medicine. Thanks again. Wendy
