Certain thyroid preparations synthesize at different rates. The one you mentioned was absorbed into my blood stream pretty quickly. And, not only that, I really felt it.. like a BIG punch or I ran into a brick wall several times!
I am now on synthroid. Better for me because I don’t feel the punch as much.
There are certain foods that are not so good to eat. Make sure you get a bulletin that the NGDF has on it.
Okay, the next thing is take the medicine on time-everyday. Don’t skip dosages: my doctor warned me of that because in the long run you may have certain complications..what ever that means.
Another thing to do is to stay in contact with the doctor. That’s the best thing to do.
Night time for me is good: I usually munch too much and stop before I go to sleep.
Well, hope this helped!AnonymousMarch 1, 1997 at 1:12 amPost count: 93172O.K., I know it’s been covered a hundred times before, but our memories are short here, and it’s too far back for my browser to work. My wife’s starting the synthroid ride in a couple days ( I won’t mention any names but it starts with a Lev ). We know about the level adjustment thing. Any tips or other tales anyone would care to reply would be greatly appreciated, One question that comes to mind is when is the best time of day to take it? She’s starting on .100 mg, once a day.

Pharmacists can usually answer general “pill questions.”
I also take 0.1 mgs. of synthroid.
Julie. * DON’T buy generic synthroid.AnonymousMay 9, 2003 at 10:40 amPost count: 93172I started Synthroid 15 days ago, and although I’m thrilled the RAI worked, I feel sooooooooo hypo. My weight (was 140, but now up to 145) was borderline between 75mcg and 100mcg, so my endo went with the 75mcg. He said it’s better to be lower than higher.
How long until I feel a change? I know it can take a while, but what is typical? I thought I might feel some change after 2 weeks. Am I fooling myself? Do I need to give it at least 3 weeks before asking to move up to 100mcg? My next appt. is still another 4 weeks away. Also, I take the Synthroid each morning on an empty stomach, w/ no other meds.
Thanks!!
AnonymousMay 10, 2003 at 8:58 pmPost count: 93172The synthroid IS working — but your body has just been through hyper hell, bounced down to hypo (although hopefully not far into it), and now needs to spend time with normal levels of hormone. You may not feel super for a while. But you should start feeling some progress toward better. How long that takes is anybody’s guess unfortunately, but hope it is quicker, rather than later.

AnonymousMay 19, 2003 at 2:58 pmPost count: 93172Hi Batailin,
I had a thyroidectomy in February and moved from .1, to .135 and am now taking .175 synthroid. Some days I feel fine, other days I feel “hypo” and to add to everything I’m 31 weeks pregnant! It seems my endo is being a bit more agressive (I see him every six weeks) to find the right dosage because of the pregnancy — while my T4 levels are “normal”, the TSH level is high (I think I got all that right). Doesn’t really matter really — the point is, we’re still fiddling with it, and just like when I was taking PTU, some days were better than others. Good luck. I hope you and your doctor can find the right level that helps you feel well.

“feel hypo”? I hear a lot off you say it but am not quite sure what you mean.
It is a beautiful day here in S.E. New hampshire, I hope it is where ever you are too. -
