My cousin has Graves disease and would like to know if any of you have had the thyroid surgery. If so, how did the surgery come out? She has decided to forgo the atomic cocktail and go straight to surgery. Her docs are trying to talk her out of it, but she just wants it fixed and over. She has read where some people try the radiation cocktail several times and it doesn’t work. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Advise your cousin that she is not alone in her thinking. That is precisely what I am in the planning stage of doing now. I want to have the surgery and hope that only by removing part of the thyroid, I will become stable and not have to take any meds.
