hi – a few weeks ago i posted about having this wierd itch on my legs and a couple of people responded to say that it was (?) myxedema….did i get that right. in any case – i told my endo and decribed it but didn’t actually see him until a couple of weeks later by which time the itch had crept up my body and was all over my legs, stomach and arms. i was (and still am) waking up four or five times a night string to scratch my skin off. it’s agony. so when i went to see him he told me that it wasn’t the graves related skin thing but simply an allergy – probably to some herbs that i had been taking. well – 2 weeks later and a visit to a dermatologist – i am still itching and it seems to wax and wane and move around my body. no rash – jusst an unbearable burning itching. anyone have any ideas? i am taking synthroid. even the dermatologist’s prescription for a stronger antihistamine pill and steroid cream hasn’t helped. one interesting side issue is that the severity of the itch seems to be inversly proportional to the condition of my eyes. which seemed to get mych better only to have worsened over the last few days.
i have a strong feeling that there is some relationship between all this.
hope someone knows something i don’t!
