    Hi Tami,

Do you happen to have allergies? I have something that sounds just like that – my doctor called it a “geographic tongue” that’s supposed to be related to my allergies. It’s not attractive, but it doesn’t bother me unless I eat a food that sets it off. Pineapple and bananas are particularly brutal, but some marinades have the same affect. When I eat those foods, it feels like I have open sores on my tongue and it gets particularly inflamed. I have to stop eating them immediately and it goes away within an hour. (Interestingly enough, when I mix pineapple with cottage cheese, it doesn’t bother me – and I’m supposed to be allergic to milk).

My doctor said that Duke makes a mouthwash for it, but he suggested that brushing my tongue with a mixture of watered down peroxide and baking soda might work. I tried it, but it was a pain so I found that avoiding the foods that set it off was just as affective.

If you have a family practitioner, you may want to ask him/her about it. This is just one possibility – I have heard of some skin disorders that also affect the mouth, which could be a possibility in light of the rash on your hands and feet. Maybe a dermatology consult is warranted.

By the way, I’ve had this for at least 15 years and was diagnosed with GD 2 years ago, so it probably isn’t related to GD in my case.

    Hope that helps,

    CB

    Hi Tami,
I also had a tongue problem when I went hypo after RAI> It does sound like thrush to me. I get it when my body is not up to standard. My doctor also noticed blotches on the palm of my hands. He called it erythema and said it was due to the hyperthyroid state. However I still have it and I’ve been through the hypo state after RAI.

Hi everyone. I’m relatively new to the BB, so bear with me if this one has been asked before. I just had the luxury of going on vacation for a week to the beach. I’m paying for the week of sun with some kind of funky reaction. I thought it was caused by some lotion I applied to my sunburn, but now I’m breaking out in these lumpy pimple things under my skin on my shoulders. The last day at the beach, my entire legs were covered with this strange rash. I looked all blotchy, like I had a case of the measles. Did anyone else ever experience this?

A little imput about lousy work situations, my endo gave me this little bit of advise (along with some tranquilizers), “You don’t have to stay in a situation that is causing you stress. Get up and take a break”…by law everyone working full time is entitled to 2 ten minute breaks a day. I totally leave the building and take a brisk walk. I come back refreshed and able to face most situations that in the past were unsurmountable.

    Good luck to all,
    Sally2
