It seems that every time that I eat shellfish, I send myself in to hypothyroidism.

I hadn’t eaten shrimp in 4 months so I decided to treat myself. I got some hypo symptoms the next day and went for a TSH. It had risen from 5.8 to 10.6 !!! (My last test was two weeks ago)

    Does this happen to everyone?

    Mary,

I’ve become allergic to shellfish. Lobster, crab, scallops, shrimp…
I’m not sure if it’s an allergy, perhaps a better description is to say that
it makes me vomit. I don’t know it I go Hyper or Hypo…probably neither as it doesn’t digest.

It’s all very high in Iodine and it’s the only thing I can put it down to. I’m currently on anti-thyroid meds and have been undercontrol for over a year now but the intolerance to foods high in iodine persists.

    Hope this helps.
