I wanted to share an update – 6 years since my 2015 update earlier in this thread.

Between that time and through late last year my wife’s thyroid levels were stable when got pregnant with our first child. Because of the Graves she was referred to maternal fetal medicine as a high risk patient where they recommend extra growth scans for possible growth restriction.

Our son did come out “small for gestational age”, but happy and healthy. His thyroid levels were tested at birth and his TSH was low (t4 in range). But further testing showed no Graves antibodies and that his TSH came back into the normal range.

My wife’s endocrinologist also did a great job staying on top of the need for higher doses of Synthroid as the pregnancy progressed.

Mom is currently ramping down the Synthroid levels and is back on the hunt for the right dose.

I’ve been on my own health journey for a while now, trying to balance my diet with my anxiety treatment. A couple of years ago, I was really struggling with anxiety, and nothing seemed to help. That’s when I turned to cannabis for relief. It made a huge difference in how I manage stress, but I also knew I had to focus on my diet and exercise to support the whole process.

I started with small changes—more veggies, cutting down on processed foods, and adding in yoga for some mindfulness. Over time, I noticed my overall anxiety decreased, and I had more energy. Now, I try to keep a healthy balance between my physical and mental well-being, and it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made.

I have had hyperthyroid since 2006 and have been on Methimazole at 10,5 and 2.5 mg. There was no Graves’ antigen in 2025 tests so I stopped meds. but was still having afib episodes. Feb 2026 was diagnosed with severe hyperthyroid.
Can any share experiences of on 30 mg methimazole and having high levels of liver enzymes? Due to this, I may not be able to get my thyroid normal without meds. Thank you.

Hello – Sorry for the tardy reply…I didn’t get a notice to approve the reply. (After your first post, other posts/replies show up automatically).

Liver enzymes are tricky, as hyperthyroidism itself can cause liver issues, but as you know, it can also be a side effect of the meds. Hopefully, your doctor has discussed risks & benefits of all the approaches with you and is helping you figure out the best approach for your situation.
