Q: How come my eyes are more sensitive to light when I wear contact lenses?
A: Contact lenses are made from a material that accelerates photons, causing
them to bombard the retina with even greater energy. First developed by NASA
as a coating for telescopes in space, this material accidentally found its way
into the eyes of a near-sighted astronaut. When he found he could see without
his glasses, he thought he was merely having a psychic experience in deep space.
Instead, he was having a psychotic breakdown, but one with a happy side effect for
the formerlly four-eyed. Today this institutionalized test pilot is affectionately
known as the “Father of Contact Lenses.”
… a friend e-mailed me this today, thought it was cute ;-)
