Lexie,
I have only gained 10 pounds. I probably wouldn’t have gained that except I tend to eat whenever I feel tired/weak. Do you have an endocrinologist? If you could find an understanding doctor who understood your feelings, perhaps you could be checked frequently and watched closely. It is when you go hypo after the RAI that you normally gain some weight. It isn’t necessarily impossible to not lose the weight later if you do gain. I am just now trying to exercise and such.
There are no medically proven alternative medicine treatments. Don’t mess around with your health and end up with heart damage or osteoporosis. Not to mention that Grave’s can be fatal if not treated.

(I did go on an all-inclusive vacation for a week in Jamaica and gained 2 pounds but lost it). Maybe the weight gain will still come, but I walk 2 miles 3 to 4 days a week and work out on weights 3 days a week. I can only eat low carb foods (nothing sweet or breads, potatoes, junk food). I even have a glass or 2 of wine every so often. But I did gain about 10 pounds before being diagnosed so maybe it’s just catching up, but I CAN’T afford to gain any more.
I’m waiting for my blood levels to show that I am ready to start Synthroid because I hope once I start the medication it will be easier to eat some of the foods I once enjoyed.
Any comments would be appreciated!

I went into remission and and back on the Tap but a lower amount and I don’t think I’ve gained more than 5 lbs yet but am too scared to jump on the scales. It’s depressing since I lost 15 lbs off the Tapazole and here I am again. Unfortunately instead of being motivated to go to the gym I have so little energy that I can barely go 1 time a week. I’m always tired now and fall asleep at the drop of a hat.
I had a good holiday though. I think my goiter is shrinking and I was able to wear contacts a couple days. I don’t feel the shakes real bad right now, but I’m sure tired.
