I’m not sure what Cytomel is but i can tell you how I felt “coming down” from the highly agitated state of very hyper.
It was almost like the panic and anxiety was a LEARNED reaction. I suffered with the panic so many times in such simple circumstances that I began to dread going out and doing anything because of the embarrassment. The shaking, sweating, not being able to say what I wanted and bursting into tears in a shop. The mere idea of going out was a source of panic and anxiety even when I was on the anti-thyroids and my levels were coming down. I had to re-learn my confidence and the only way to do that was “get back on the horse” so to speak. Now, a year later, I’m a sales executive and in front of strangers articulating the companies services to them. I had to remind myself that I was a very capable person before this condition got to me and I was going to find my way back.
I hope this makes sense to you and helps you in some way. My thoughts are with you and wishing you..
    Peace

    Betty:

I second what Carol Anne said about “getting back on then horse.” I had to start
doing it in small bites. I, too, couldn’t even drive my kids places because
I feared panic problems. I hated the grocery store and any other place with
florescent lighting. The beta blockers helped. Exercise helps rid the
body of extra adrenal stores. What I did was to start by riding my bike
alone a few miles, then taking a short drive to the store just for a couple of quick
in-there-and-right-back-out-items. Run my daughter to her dance school, but not go in a visit… It’s been over 6 months and
for the last 3 1/2 I’ve been able to function almost back to normal…but
without pushing it. When my free T3 is going hyper, I can feel anxiety start
to build and I comfort myself by knowing it is the disease talking. I block
the anxious thoughts to the best of my ability using prayer & Bible verses and
remind myself that “this too shall pass.”

I never had a panic problem before this disease, and you probably didn’t either.
So remember, you can get back the ground you’ve lost. Be patient with yourself
    and you will conqueror this.
