Erica and Colleen and any others:

My understanding is that simple iodine is given for a couple of days
before the RAI to prevent thyroid storm. Did anyone who experienced
thyroid storm have the simple iodine?

Colleen- its nice to find someone who can understand what I am going thru.
Thankfully the palpatations have stopped. My heart still beats about 80
to 90 beats per minute when i’m resting. They tried me on different
beta blockers, but like everything else I have tried, I had reactions to
Inderal ans Atenenol as well. During the thyroid storm my heart was
beating at 145 10 155 beats a minute and my temperature increased to over
102 degrees. I also became so dehydrated that the veins in my arms began
collapsing and they could not start a saline solution IV. It was the worst
experience of my life. I am praying that I will not have to have another
radioactive iodine treatment. I would rather die. I am only 22 and I hope
I have not ruined my chance to have children?
I do not know what to expect next? I wish you the best of luck….erica
