I can tell you my experience. In my case my TED was held in check with border line high thyroid levels. That is not the case with everyone. I know many people who had better results at the low end. Find an endocrinologist that will work with you at how you feel as well as your lab values.
If my doctor followed my lab values only my eyes would have been worse. But running me borderline high also had to be watched to look for hyper symptoms and bone loss.
We are only a click away.

On-line FacilitatorI’m wondering if not taking your Levoxyl for a few days will cause any problems – I’ve been trying to get in touch will my Dr. because I’ve run out and we’re still trying to get my levels stable. I’m currently at a TSH of 12.25. His office says I’ll have to wait until Wed. or Thurs. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.
YES, going without Levoxyl can cause problems! If you’ve run out and you have no refills available, call the doctor’s office again on an emergency basis and get some medication. This is not a medication you can skip — think of it as fuel for your body! How well would your car run if you “skipped” the gas?
A secondary complication is that, since you are now attempting to adjust your levels, a gap in taking your medication could seriously affect your blood levels, thus hampering your attempts at becoming level.
Did the doctor’s office understand that you had NO MORE to take? I think they’ll change their tune if they know that….. Let us know how this turns out!

NGDF Assistant Online FacilitatorI have read here often about the importance of taking my medicine at the same time everyday and on an empty stomach. Recently my doctor lowered my dosage once again – telling me to skip Sundays. I was concerned about this because of the need to take it “regularly”. I called the pharmacist to ask if this was a common thing to do and he said it was. Actually what I have started doing is taking 1/2 dose on Sundays and 1/2 on Wednesdays rather than skipping Sunday altogether. Any thoughts about whether this is OK, or whether I should insist on a dose that is the same everyday?
