Hi, Tracy:

While I haven’t seen the actual figure that your doctor gave you, in several recent articles I have seen statistics that show that smoking is an aggravating factor for the eye disease. In other words, if we smoke we are statistically much more likely to get the eye disease than non-smokers, and the worse the eye disease, the higher the percentage of smokers there are in the group. It definitely increases the risk.
