I say why risk smoking and the dangerous affects associated with it???
Is it worth your health and your life?Sorry to hear that you have the eye disease too.
If the doctor that told you to stop smoking is not an ophthalmologist that knows about Thyroid Eye Disease (TED), I would at least go and see one to have a baseline exam.
I smoke and I started out with the blurry and watery eye problems. It did not take very long for me to end up having enough eye troubles to have to have the prednisone and eye radiation treatments.
Morning Bro! Why not quit TODAY???
HUGS,
JANtoday is not a good day to quit
but i reeally am going to do it
this monthlater ,crazy
As a reformed smoker (7months, 16 days, and 17 hours & 55 minutes–not that I’m counting) let me offer my best wishes to those of you who decide to toss this particular vice out the window. I stopped smoking before I was diagnosed with Graves. I quit even before I went to the dr. because I didn’t want the stop smoking lecture. So I quit because I was feeling so crummy & thought I was having heart problems…turns out I was having heart problems, but it wasn’t from the smoking.
So, a few suggestions from one whose been there…
*you won’t be successful at this unless you REALLY want to stop.
*pick a date to stop, and use the time in between to psych yourself up for quitting.
*make yourself stop smoking in certain situations…like, this week I can’t smoke in my car anymore, and next week and I can’t smoke while I’m working on the computer…
*really enjoy that one last smoke….smoke it for all of us out here who still really want one.
*quit when you’re feeling crummy…on the days I feel really good, I want to smoke more that when I’m not feeling good.
GOOD LUCK to you! It is really worth the effort.Been thinking about quitting myself these days – amazing now those years pass by!! Was wondering if anyone knew if we can take that new pill they have out now for quitting smoking? Anyone know? Would an endo prescribe it or go back to dr.? Was wondering how the patch would work on us? What a chicken I am. Seemed at times those cigarettes were my only friend, since they would stay up as late as me. I have smoked more lately than ever. This eye talk does scare me. Someone wrote about other things affecting the eyes and I remember the first time I got the teary eyed pain was standing around at a little carnival where they use all those generators to run the rides. Seemed like someone was spraying acid in my eyes.
