      Hi Shannon

Get Bulletin #8 from the NGDF (join if you can!) “Graves’ Ophthalmopathy and Radiation Therapy”, $4 for non-members.

Seems most Hospital Oncology deparments can handle the procedure, not sure.

Hi Bruce, Do you know where I could get some information on that
        particular precedure?
My Doctors never mentioned it, I’d never heard of it. maybe it’s just
        available in the U.S?
        Thanks, Shannon.

Hi Bruce, what do you mean when you say Graves stops attacking the eyes,
in which way? can you explain a little more? Thanks, Shannon.

The latest info on how Graves’ affects the eyes is that your body’s immune system starts attacking the muscles of the eyes causing them to swell and bulge out. After the period mentioned before, it seems to stop its assault on the muscles although often in severe cases the swelling is permanent, requiring orbital decompression surgery to allow the eyeballs to go back in the head.
