Hi, Lynne: It is likely that any brand name product of hormone replacement would be the same in Canada as it is in the U.S. So any problems that the FDA might find with the American product could be the same for Canadians as well. But if the FDA decided to pull the plug on a particular type of replacement hormone, that product could still be sold in Canada. The FDA only has jurisdiction over products prescribed in the U.S.

I would recommend that all of us go to Mary’s site, and use the links that she established to the Federal Register piece and get the complete article there, read it, and print it out. Even if you are doing ATDs right now, we all run the risk of becoming hypothyroid in the future. The antibody attack on the thyroid can render it useless. There is useful information in it.

    Very interesting post Mary.
I am on Synthroid and the last time I got my
perscription the pharmacist gave me Levothyroxine and
my Endo Freaked out. Does this study go for Canada as well??
I have been feeling Hypo for the last week and cannot figure out why.
I have been feeling very good before that. I wonder if my meds have anything to do
    with that?? Just a thought…….

    Hi!

Since most of the manufacturers are covering much of N. America
with these thyroid drugs, my ~guess~ is that this is true for
    Canada as well.
