I too feel pressure in my head when I bend down, say to pick up something from the floor. Sometimes it feels like the top of my head might blow off or sometimes by head feels like it is blowing up like a balloon!! I suffer from headaches nearly every day. I was only sleeping 2 hours at a time. I am now on Paxcil 40 mg and clonazepam .5 mg–1/2 tablet in the morning and one full tablet 1 hour before bed to help me sleep. My doc says I am having panic attacks which the hyperthyroid seems to cause. To soon to tell if these meds are helping (been on for 3 days). I did sleep last night, but it was like a dead sleep and I did not feel rested when I got up for work this morning. I will give it time. My doc says it can be a challenge to finding the right combination to make us feel better. I also take PTU and Atenolol for the heart. That has really helped. I used to wonder when I would have to call 911 the way my heart would flip flop and pound. My doc says it takes time, but we will get there! I think the hardest thing about this thing is I am used to being strong and doing whatever I wanted. Now, just climbing up the basement stairs is hard. And if I’m sitting on the floor — well, sometimes I think that’s where I’m going to stay!!!!!! Now that the weather is better, I am going to start walking again. Thanks for letting me ramble. I feel better already!

I am so glad to have found several folks who have this head pressure and clenching… (not that I want anyone to have this, of course.) My anxiety is much better than it was initially, but sometimes I think I am relaxed and I’ll have my calf muscles tightened in one leg or my hands will be clasped tightly together, or my jaws will be clenched or my face will be like I’m squinting. I don’t think this if very common in Graves, so I don’t think others should worry about getting this part. As I said, it does do different things to different people. Thanks to all who have written about this and to Angie for asking about it to begin with.
