I was surprised to read that people have “clenching” problems. My dentist wanted me to get a very expensive night guard because my teeth seem to be fracturing caused by clenching. The more I thought about getting it, the more I realized I’m clenching my teeth all day long (and probably at night too). I never thought of atrributing this to Graves. What can be done?

Also, I’ve been reading some posters’ comments on Vertigo. What exactly is vertigo? My equilibrium is off, I ache all over, have had some ear pain, head pressure and just plain feel rotten all over all the time (dont mean to complain). My 8 mo. old daughter has gotten her first ear infection this week and I wondered if I was having sympathy pain-LOL.

First- don’t buy an expensive mouth guard when you can go to a sporting goods store and get a moulable mouthpiece they use for football players which will do the same thing. Second tell your docter about the balance problems, I went through vertigo really hard when I first went hypo and they gave me meds they use for people who get car sick and told me to lay down and drink a lot of water till it eased up, which it finally did. Our thyroid controls a lot of things in our body and a lot of the controls are in our brain so when we go through changes sometimes the effect in our head are really hard to deal with without medical help. I firmly believe in medicine the squeky whell gets the grease and if you imprease upon your doc how miserable you are enough you will find the answer to your unique needs and everyone who deals with this stuff has their own levels of need when it comes to stablizing the effects of graves. We are all in this together so good luck and hope you get some answers and help.
