      Wendy,

I have never had to fight my weight —EXCEPT when I took Paxil.
Hope this helps. Good luck and I hope things get better for you soon.

      God Bless You,
      Valerie L.

Has anyone experience a huge weight gain with hyperthyroidism? Since I had my thyroid removed I have been lossing weight at a rate of 5lbs a month reguardless of what I do. So, I am wondering can I expect to go back to my pre-illness weight? I was the one who gained over 80 lbs with Graves Disease (it stumped the MD), eventhough my resting heartrate was 110-150 bpm. The good news is that I have lost 50 of those pounds so far. But I was thin before I got sick. Has anyone gone through this?

I gained a TON of weight in the 2-3 years before my thyroid went hyper. The doctors insist that it’s not related, but it seems odd to me (I never had a weight problem before, then I gained 40 pounds in 2 years.) Gained even more when I started taking ATD’s (the T one). Now I’m leveling off, but not losing any weight.

I saw one of my cousins at a wedding a couple of months ago, and she told me that she suddenly gained 70 pounds in a year (started at 130, she wasn’t fat.) Nothing has shown up on thyroid tests. I told her to have it checked again over the next couple of years and let me know whether something shows up.

Before I was diagnosed my weight was all over…up and down. I had no control. I ate the same. One xmas I was 120 and the next 135. My TSH is suppose to be at a good level and still can’t lose the 10 lbs I gained after RAI. I don’t eat much. I don’t have much energy to exercise either.
