Having back problems again, think it’s linked to Graves?

Quotes are better than real life, I guess to y’all.

Having a bear of a problem with the back: need a surgeon who will operate again. I’m in pain! PAin!
Well,I guess I’m going to shut my mouth up since there’s a lot of people who get ANXIOUS about me speaking my mind.

Okay — here’s an obvious lead in to something that Jeannette and I have discussed in email: We have both had serious reactions to epinephrine in the dentist’s office. Epinephrine (adrenalin) is something which is added to the numbing material in the shot to make it work faster.
        Has anyone else experienced this?

About the dental decay problems: Yes, I’ve this, but attribute it to the mouth dryness due to Sjogren Syndrome. Saliva helps to keep bacteria at bay in the mouth and lack of it results in tooth decay.

Sometimes I wish I could go back and erase my postings. The last one re Dental Problems was posted as I was trying to catch-up on over a week’s worth of postings. Now I see that there has been a complete discussion of epinephrine — Jeannette took the opportunity to ask a few days ago!

It’s interesting though, I would never have thought that others had gingivitis after RAI. During my worst period after RAI, when my complexion was grey-green and my muscles didn’t work, etc., my dentist started periodontal treatments because my gums were receding and irritated. Thank goodness I didn’t lose any teeth. By the way, for people reading this and getting scared: the problem is now corrected and so far the dental problems are under control. Still, I attributed the entire episode to Sjogren — but am now persuaded that Graves’ played a part.

Yes, Redhen, my dentist had to make a note that I never be given epinephrine. Just before I was diagnosed with Graves, I had a very bad reaction to the epinephrine in the local anesthetic. It didn’t numb me, but it did send my blood pressure skyrocketing, rapid heart beat, shakes…..very very scarey. As I understand it now, epinephrine plus hyperthyroidism can be a dangerous combination.

Oh, and P.S., the shot that sent me to the ceiling of the dentist’s office did NOT numb me, either.
