Talk to your Doctor and let him/her know what’s going on with your weight! I told my endo that I get more exercise than 95% of the population (Because of my job and jogging) and I shouldn’t be struggling with my weight!
I’m sure you are getting real discouraged!! I have Graves and also eat and exercise like you do. I’ve found that after a couple of gains and losses of 35 lbs. that my weight goes up when I’m hypo and down when I swing the other way and this is influenced by the meds I’m taking.
When the dose is too high for me of anti- thyroids, (like PTU) even when my labs come back showing I’m at the upper end of “normal” (TSH at 4.0 to 5) I really don’t feel good, feel tired and gain weight. (And this is within the normal range!) When my endo backs off the meds and I swing to the lower end, I lose all the weight! I seem to keep the weight off and feel better when I’m at the lower end of normal. After going through this cycle two times (and my wardrobe has exploded, ha) my Endo and I both think I do better at the low end of normal and that’s where he tries to keep me.
This would be something to talk to your Dr. about. I think the lab numbers are an indicator, but it is a range and that’s why some folks do better at different levels. Your body is an indicator too and I don’t believe you can just go by the numbers. JeanVa
