Well I finally got some results he has agreed to lower my levoxyl to see if it makes me feel better. He kept dancing around it saying your levels are jumping around but they are always in the normal range. I kept telling him I dont thinking putting me on the antidepressant is the answer. I really thinking lowering the medication may make a difference if it doesnt then I have my answer but why not try my levels are in the low end of normal so if it brings it up a little hopefully I will feel better. Finally feeling encouragement.

    Katie,

Are you having your free T3 and free T4 levels drawn as well? I’m seeing an endocrinologist who is VERY highly recommended by past patients who have had problems not feeling well despite “normal” TSH levels. He found that my free T3 levels were down. If that is out of balance, you can feel hypo/hyper symptoms and just doing a TSH test won’t uncover that. AND…it is fixable! Slowly, of course, but it’s definitely making a difference for me. Esp if you are seeing a GP they may not automatically order that test. Mine wouldn’t even do a regular T3/T4 reading, and that was when I decided he was not going to be in charge of monitoring my Graves’ disease.

They did test my T4 last time which was normal but we didnt do the T3 last time. Probably 3-4 months ago we tested that. I was started on cymotel for a few days but had an adverse reaction so had to stop that medication. I do think I am going to try and find an endocrinologist. The one I had before was wonderful but she left the field to join Hospice. Katie

    Jake,

I didn’t realize that you also had a stroke. I had a TIA last Tuesday and was in the hospital for a couple of days. Was yours a TIA? And do you think it has anything to do with us having GD? Of course I told the Dr’s that I had GD, but no one said much about that. Since I have low blood pressure, low colestrol levels, just wondering why I had one. Sometimes you just get from Dr.’s “from living life.” What an answer……….LOL

Frustrated is definitely the appropriate word for this subject! I thought I was getting close to normal, only to find out yesterday my TSH has made a sudden jump to 12.6. Does anyone want to join me in screaming?

My doctor said pretty much the same thing. No cause given, not Graves’ related, just one of those things…

Who knows, I am doing all right. Just still get tired easy and my body rythm is out of whack but it is slowly betting better.

Sometimes a godd scream is good for the soul, but it does rattle the family and neighbors a bit.

At one of our conferences we had a thing where we yelled into our pillows until we were all laughing. Great stress releaver it is. So go to your room, yell into your pillow until you get tired, relief or just start to laugh at the absurdity that Graves’ brings into our lives.

We are only a click away.

    Jake,

I can’t believe how tired I am after this TIA last week. I was sleeping 10 hrs at night and a nap during the day. It’s a little less than that now, but I just feel so out of it. I know how you feel. Just another cross to bear.

    Jake,

    I just had a thought………..
Since we both just had a stroke I wonder if our TSH levels might change because of the stress on the body? I’m due to go to my endo next week and having a TSH done, just wondering and worrying.
