Hi Paul! Dealing with Graves’ Ophthalmopathy is no picnic. I feel for your son and wish him comfort and relief in the days ahead.

To answer your questions: 1) I don’t know what my eye measurements were before and after decompression surgery. It’s a good question and I’m going to email my doc to find out. I’ll get back to you on this one. 2) Yes, my surgery was done from within the sinuses. No pain, no stitches that I know of, just numbness and swelling. The swelling went away after a week or two, but the numbness gradually went away over a period of about a year.

Dear Debbie,

Tks yr last posting (18 Jan), which I have just picked up – have
been out-of-town.

Anyway, we’ve taken some encouragement from yr info.

If yr medico does come back with the before/after, that would
be interesting – but it seems like the endoscopic approach
has some clear advantages.

Once again, yr response was really appreciated!
