    Hi,

I was started on Armour after have months of “normal” labs on Levoxyl, yet I was still feeling hypo. I started the Armour (2 grains), and after 2 weeks I started feeling hyper (sweating, nervous, insomnia). They lowered my dose to 1 grain, and now have me moving up slowly every 2 weeks. I’ve noticed that since I’ve increased to 1.5 grains that I’m getting those hyper symptoms again, including panic attacks. But at the same time I am feeling super hypo (my TSH has gone from 1.02 to 3.0) and I am wiped out.

Has anyone who switched to Armour felt this huge swing? Should I hang in there and just be patient?

    Thanks!

Yes, I am having a similar experience. My TSH is 5.6 and I’m experiencing the full range of hyper AND hypo symptoms (including racing heart, hand tremors, poor sleep, puffy eyes/water retention, hypo-type fatigue, muscle spasms/cramps, etc.) It’s just bizarre. I had bloodwork done this week and didn’t know if my TSH would be too high or too low, I just knew it was off.

I have no idea what to make of this strange mix of symptoms, especially considering my high TSH. Before I was diagnosed I experienced classic hyperthyroid symptoms, but everything post-RAI has not been clear cut.

Has anyone else experienced Hyper-type symptoms with a high TSH?

Oh, and I’m taking 45mg of Armour Thyroid. I have been on Armour since mid-July and felt pretty decent until about two weeks ago.

I am not on the armour thyroid but I am having similar symptoms as you are. Mine do not seem quite as bad as yours but it ranges from I will be sitting there and then feeling anxious, racing heart, trouble sleeping, sweating. The next day I will be dragging, very cold and do not have any heart issues. My TSH is close to 2, my T4 is in the normal range as well but my T3 is low which would be more like being hypo. That is what has me so confused. From what I have been told with my age I am in perimenopause you can get some of the symptoms that we have experienced in the past with hyperthyroid so this really does make it difficult.

Hope things settle down for you soon!!

Has anyone else experienced hyper-type symptoms while have a high TSH? Yes. There have been frequent posts to this board from people who are in a similar circumstance to yours. Similar symptoms can arise from multiple different types of issues. That is one of the reasons why diagnosis is difficult for so many of us. Fortunately, a TSH test is a rather concrete explanation of what might be going on.

I hope you are feeling better soon.
