When I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid and GD I was certain after reading up on everything that I would be getting radiation treatment. To my surprise, ater seeing my Endo he strongly recommended not having radiation if it could possibly be avoided. He says current medical data says that symptoms of GD actually may increase if you have radiation. Luckily, I was controlled with PTU and able to get off of it within about 1 1/2 yrs. I have had two bouts of surgery. Anyone else heard of this phenomenon??

        Hi everyone,

I am just entering the hypo phase 9 weeks after RAI. Suddenly I’m cold and my hands are tingling. These symptoms I expected. The one symptom that bothers me the most is that I seem to have an internal vibration, almost like shivering deep inside. This only seems to happen when I am sleeping, it wakes me up every hour or so. I also experienced this during the last months of PTU when I suspected that I was being kept on too high a dose. I know sleeping pills will solve the problem for the moment, but I would prefer not to take them any longer, I took them long enough when I was hyper and sleep was out of the question.
If anyone has any similar symptoms, I’d love to know.
        Brenda

Since 2/96, I have had serious eye problems related to the graves disease
I would like to hear from others and compare notes, etc. I have had
optic nerve decompression in 11/96 and 1/97, and would like to hear from
others who have elected this surgery.
