i recently had two full weeks of radiation treatments done to my eyes
due to grave’s disease that has caused me to have double vision. it has only been about a week since i finished my treatments and i have already begun to see some improvements. now that my eyes have been treated, my doctor wants me to have the radioactive iodine done to my thyroid. i am very hesitant to have the next procedure done since i am not sure if there could be some serious side effects.

if anyone has had these procedures done in this same order, i would appreciate getting some feedback on it.

    my questions are as follows:

    1. how long after the radiation treatments should you wait until having the radioactive iodine done?

    2. can having the radioactive iodine treatment cause your eyes to become worse?

My endo has told me that eye problems create the need to be extra careful during RAI, but that taking steroids afterwards can help. Also, there were steps which could be taken during RAI to protect the eyes, although he did not say what those were. This was only during first visit since I do have one bulging eye. I’m curious, since your Dr’s approach seemed different . Why did you have the radiation treatments for your eyes first ?
