Just some thoughts. Any long term medication like estrogen and progesterone could cause liver damage. Maybe thyroid replacements, too??

Belinda mentioned that any long-term medication can cause liver damage, but I’m not sure that is true. I believe that it depends on the place in the body where the medication is metabolized (which is very often the liver, but not always) AND it depends upon what types of compounds result from the metabolic process, even if it IS in the liver. There are not necessarily toxic compounds created by the metabolic process. The way we can check for the possibility is to get a decent drug reference manual and read up on the drugs that we take. There are usually clues as to whether the liver can be adversely affected — typically (if it doesn’t state it outfight) things like “jaundice” or “yellowing of the eyes” as a possible adverse side-effect.
