AnonymousMarch 26, 1998 at 4:25 pmPost count: 93172Hi. I was diagnosed with hyperthyrodism about a month ago. My doctor is doing additional blood work to determine if it is Grave’s Disease or another type. what I understand is that while they can positively identify Grave’s, they cannot positively cancel it out. What other types of hyperthyroidism are there? Also, she has me on Tapazole until the blood work comes. It is working from what I can tell-I have gained a good portion of the weight I lost back (I lost quite a bit). I’m pretty sure that when the blood results are in (four-six weeks)she will want me to choose a treatment option. Right now I’m considering the radioactive iodine-I believe surgery is too invasive and I understand that the medication may not be permanent. Has anyone had the iodine treatment and then successfully gone through pregnancy and childbirth (with a healthy child, of course!)?
