I’m new to Graves Disease and i would like to know more about this disease. Should someone knows this disease very well could share some opinion here about how dangerous is it and how do we prevent it. Appreciate your comments.

I suggest you read the guidelines for Graves’ thAt on the main webpage of this site. i can pretty much tell you that you can’t really prevent it. But if you do have Graves’, with treatment, which can take a while, you will feel much better.
It certainly can be dangerous if left untreated. It is like trying to drive 80mph in first gear. Many people with untreated Graves’, right at diagnosis, have dangerous heart rates of 120 or more. Too much circulating thyroid hormone is not good.
As Kimberly says, it would be helpful to know more of you situation.
In the meantime, you have found a good and reliable website, and you will learn that you are not alone!

    For kim,

In short, Grave’s disease is an autoimmune disease that leads to excessive levels of thyroid hormone released into the body. Thyroid hormone leads to symptoms of over-activity such as shaking, sweating, intolerance to heat, racing heartbeat, etc. Please check out more from an authorized source so you can get a much more in-depth idea of what the disease presents with. Important to understand is that this is an autoimmune disease, meaning the body attacks itself and subsequently this occurs. It is not ‘treatable’, as in there is a cure, but there are many medical interventions that can eliminate the problems that are associated with it.
