    hi kate,

i’ve only been on board for a short period of time, but everyone is so
nice. i’ve had graves for about six years now, was doing fine, and all
of a sudden, I’m hyper again. this disease is a strange thing. you really
never know what to expect. don’t mean to discourage you, i’m sure you
will do fine with rai. i’ve had it also. today is not one of my better
days, but wanted to say hello. hope to talk with you later.

Why isn’t today a better day for you? Thank you for responding, How did your graves come back? Are you on PTU or another anti-thyroid drug? Do you have to start everything all over? I’m so glad I have a good doctor, I’ve been getting my blood taken every two weeks for the last 8 months!! Is that how you found out you were hyper again or was it the symptoms? A year ago today I was sooooooooooooo sick I can’t even believe it. I look back on it now and I can’t believe I made it, I was always soooooo hot and stressed out and all I ever did was go to the bathroom (it wasn’t #1)!! I feel so much better, please tell me why it isn’t a good day for you!! hang in there!!

    kate,

i can tell when my thyroid is not “RIGHT”. first i started itching and
i was and still am somewhat very irritable. i went in for liver and
cholesterol(not sure how to spell that) and i told them i wanted a
thyroid panel. sure enough, i was hyper again. i’ve been under alot of
stress lately and i’m sure that doesn’t help. i have really struggled
with this disease, but have come a long way. a few years ago i could hardly
walk up stairs, had bad tremors, could not get up if i sat on the floor
and was a nervous wreck. today i am forty pounds heavier(DUH) but i
am alot better physically. good luck to you.

Hi I’m Kate from San Diego. I’m a student at SDSU and that is where I was diagnosed with graves disease on August 1, 1996. I’ve been on PTU since then and I’m going to get RAI in June if everything works out!! I have been reading a lot of what people write and I feel for everyone, it seems like everybody knows everybody! I have posted a few messages but no one has responded! Boo Hoo!!!! So I thought I would introduce myself! I want graves’ friends because nobody else knows how i feel and it’s too difficult to explain!! I’m 26 about ready to turn 27 and I am a single mother of a 2 year old son!! People seem to complain a lot about their “endos” mine is great, I wish everyone could see her!! I’ll be at the chat line tommorrow night, maybe then i will be able to talk to some of you!!! BYE BYE

Hi, I am new to this board. Found it recently. I was diagnosed with GD in Dec ’95. Had RAI in Jan ’96. Seemed ok for awhile until my eyes started bothering me. I had decompression surgery on both eyes in Feb ’99 and eyelid surgery on both eyes in May ’99. This improved the double vision I was experiencing as long as I am looking straight ahead. Still have difficulty when not looking straight on. I have to really concentrate on focussing(making both eyes work together)But after all this time I seem to be very anxious and seem to be experiencing mood swings. Sometimes I even hate myself for being so moody, but can’t seem to stop it. I don’t know if I’m disappointed that my eyes aren’t back to normal or what is going on? Any suggestions?
