I had the same problem when I was on Prednisone–the daily dosage was tapered downward but it didn’t say whether to take all pills at once or spread them out throughout the day. I decided to spread them out, but I think it’s wise to call your pharmacist with this question. Probably it isn’t too crucial or it would have been spelled out very clearly.

I had rai wed and started steroids day before. Prescription was written and says on bottle 4 tabs daily one week, 3 tabs daily next, week, 2 tabs daily next week and last week 1 daily. they are 10mg
        prednisone.

I ‘ve just realized i am probably taking them wrong. I’ve been taking
4 at one time each day so far.
Does anyone know if i am suppose to spread them out during the day. No way i’ll reach my dr this weekend. My pharmacy is closed until mon.

I cant believe I just thought of this. All my other pills ptu, beta blockers were explained in detail and written like 2 pills 3 times a day. Obviously I didnt take 6 at once. I feel like such an idiot.

Can anyone help that has taken this before? thanks. I guess I could call another pharmacy tomorrow.

My husband used to take prednisone for cluster headaches (to give him a break from pain for a few days) He was always told to take the total amount of daily pills at one time-hope that this helps

What you are taking is called a ” Dose-Pak “. When I had my allergic reaction, I was given one. Because there were ( I think ) 5 doses that first day, I complained to a friend ( a Doc ) that I couldn’t keep track of when to take all those meds!! The Benadryl, and the Tagamet ( used for the anti-histamine properties ), and the Vistaril, and the Inderal ( all for the allergic reaction, except of course, the beta blocker ). He said ” take all the steroids at once “. I looked on the Pak, and sure enough, the pharmacist had labeled it as such, even though the little blister card read, ” take two in the morning before breakfast, one before lunch, etc. ” So I took them that way . I believe the dosage is 4mg per pill on the dose pak, which only totals a max of 20 mg for that first day, tapering down the next four days. When I finished that pak, I had 3 days of high dose steroids ( 40 mg A.M. and 40 mg. P.M. ). Lin
