Hi Randi
A Multiple Resonance Imaging (MRI) takes pictures of the inside of any part of your body (not an xray machine), in this case your head. An MRIis non-invasive. You will get lots of pictures of the eye area and its muscles and soft tissue, as well as the sinuses. It will show if there is swelling and to what degree, of the muscles around the eye globe. The test can also rule out other things. It is a noisy machine! If you are nervous or don’t like small places close your eyes and keep them closed. You should be able to take someone in the room with you, and they can hold your feet. So you know there is someone close by. It can take from 20 – 40 minutes.
Ask to see your MRI results and discuss them with your physician.
If you have any more questions let us know. Don’t worry.
