SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!! I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH GRAVES IN FEBRUARY 1995 AND RECEIVED
RADIOACTIVE IODINE IN JUNE 95, HAVE BEEN ON SYNTHROID SINCE SEPTEMBER 1995. I AM NOW
ALMOST 4 MONTHS PREGNANT AND HAVE NEVER BEEN SO SICK IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. TOTALLY
SICK ALL THE TIME. I HAD MY FIRST CHILD LONG BEFORE GRAVE’S AND FELT WONDERFUL
THE ENTIRE PREGNANCY. IS THIS NAUSEA AND VOMITING IN ANY WAY RELATED TO
MY THYROID DISORDER? IS THERE A THYROID TEST THAT I SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT
I AM NOT AWARE OF? I AM CURRENTLY HAVING MY SYNTHROID LEVELS CHECKED ABOUT EVERY
      8 WEEKS.

ANY ADVICE, PLEASE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANKS!!!!!

I haven’t got any scientific expertise on this, but I had four pregnancies, and they were all different. In my second pregnancy, I was completely ill, for months, with “morning” sickness. It was sooooooo much fun, having a wee child and throwing up all the time! So — I wasn’t sick with Graves then, wasn’t on synthroid, and had massive morning sickness. The next pregnancies were significantly better. And nobody can really tell you “why” this happens.

I hope this passes for you soon. I know it’s a real downer.

I too received RAI after my first pregnancy and am now pregnant. I only felt bad this pregnancy during my first trimester (never actually sick) due to the progesterone lozengers my endo. had my on. Once I stopped those, I was fine. It could be that it’s just your body reacting differently to this pregnancy and no relation to the GD or synthyroid. Try lemon drops–it seems that sour things like that helped.

Tried sending you a message to your own address and it came back not able to or something…..
i was wondering if this couldnt just be a different preganancy and in every pregnancy is different as in we are all different.
long time ago i was pregnant before graves disease and was sick for months until i figured out that i had lactose intolerance. it was terrible some days all i would get into me was boiled peppermint iced ie peppermint ice tea.
hope that you find the health care providers that you need
            do well

              Hi!
When you see your endo to get the result of your uptake test I would ask him those questions. The comments technicians make can be very confusing to the patient.
