What has gone wrong when heavy duty drugs are given to control symptoms that might well be controlled with a tiny increase in thyroxine? I was on the way to antidepressants and sleeping pills when I managed to find a doctor who was more concerned with how I felt. All my symptoms required was a 5mcg increase in my thyroxine dose. Within two weeks there was an improvement in my mental capacity, my hands no longer were numb and I did not have a continuously running motor somewhere inside me preventing me from sleeping. Yes my T4 is just within the normal range, and I still have no TSH, BUT I do have my life back. How can we get the message out to physicians that we are not all the same? Surely an extra 5 mcgs of thyroxine is safer than addictive drugs which only hide the symptoms. I am very concerned about this situation. I was finished and I knew it, yet all I needed was 5mcg of thyroxine. How can this be happening? If any physicians are reading this please give us some answers.
