Robin: I don’t know where you are posting from and coverage IS different from state to state but generally, it would be covered as long as it is being ordered by a primary care physician – (someone who has seen you for this problem more than just 1 time). The Medicaid office where you live OUGHT to be able to look it up simply enough. Try calling them back. Maybe you just got hold of someone with an attitude who couldn’t be bothered to look it up. Good luck!

My doctor wants me to see a specialist in nuclear medicine for a thyroid scan. She is suggesting I get RAI. Noone at either doctor’s office can tell me if these are covered by Medicaid (there is no way in God’s green earth that I could afford them on my own and I have no other means of getting any other type of health insurance). The people at the Medicaid office are also clueless. Does anyone know what Grave’s surgeries/treatments are covered by Medicaid? BTW, I am also in a really bad mood, because I have to be off PTU for 3 weeks before I see the specialist and it is already making me feel strange and yucky after only not taking it 3 days! Thanks!
