Hi, Steve! Remember Denise’s dream about having a one-stop medical facility
that has endos, ophthalmologists, surgeons, an on-site lab for thyroid
tests, facilities for thyroid scans and RAI treatments, counseling, etc.?
Well, that’s the Mayo Clinic! :)

A typical day at Mayo for me included:
*blood test (and not just the TSH) at 7:30 or 8:00 am
*appointment with ophthalmologist in the morning, with possible consultation
    with other ophthal.
*appointment with endo in afternoon, with thyroid test results and
    recommendations in hand

It was not unusual at all for my doctors to visit with each other over the
phone about my situation during my appointment – with me in the room listening.
Tests were ordered on the spot, and either done that day or the next. I
never left my appointment without knowing what to do about my medication
(they have their own pharmacy) or when my next appointment was. I’ve had
my doctors call me at home, send literature in the mail, and email me with
    GD info.

Other points of interest: Mayo is attached via subway to a hospital where
all of the surgeries are done by the Mayo doctors. There is another
hospital in town where they also perform surgeries. The medical records
are transported in a tube through “chutes” to each department floor, and
they arrived at your appointment before you do. Barbara Bush was treated
at the Mayo Clinic. The clinic has done a number of studies through the
years on RAI, decompression, and now radiotherapy. AND there are pamphlets
on GD in the waiting rooms and the doctors know about the NGDF! :)

So, Steve, don’t hold the mayo on this sandwich! heehee

So part of my dream does exist out there. I know the May helps all types of patients healthy and non-healthy but if there was a place just for us Graves-Thyroid Warriors in mind that would be great. Like the Joslin Centerf or Diabetes, etc The Mayo clinic does it have any sites in the Northeast??? In Boston area??
I will check the internet, though to see what I come up with. I did not qin the lottey Weds. but I may win on Saturdy. The pot is getting bigger,
Well TGIF, is finally here, Have a great weekend!

FYI: Mayo in the Midwest comprises Mayo Medical Center in Rochester,
Minnesota, and regional practices in Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. Mayo
Clinic Jacksonville and St. Luke’s Hospital are in northeastern Florida.
Mayo Clinic Scottsdale is in southcentral Arizona.

Go to: http://www.mayo.edu/location/location.html for info and links
    about any of these locations.

    Follow your dreams, Debby :)

P.S. Steve, you are a true warrior!
Denise, I would say this setup is even better! If they find something else
wrong, then that department is on a different floor in the same facility.
Instant referrals and transfer of medical records.
