Dear James,
I have been on PTU since Dec 96, and due to come off in November this year, so that hardly qualifies me as long term. However, my doc was an associate of the man who invented PTU years ago, and he said that in the old days, there were many people who were on PTU for many years, 20 and over, with no harm. He said that now a days, they find that the PTU does its job in much less time than those long term times. He said that I should not worry about coming out of remission because I have shown no side effects and my dosage is low, and that if I were to go out of remission, re starting PTU would be quite recommended. Since Tapazole is very similiar to PTU, I would definately think that long term tapazole would have the same possibilities. As a p.s. to the PTU, several times different people have done muscle testing (kineseology) on me to see if PTU was good for me. The answer is always yes…and the testers never believe the answer, and re-test differently with the same results…so, James, know your body, build up the rest of your system as you know best, and keep asking your questions.
